Information for the summer 2017 scholarships will be updated soon. Below is what was offered the summer of 2016.
UNH Tech Camp will be hosting the National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) for middle school students (grades 6-8). The purpose of the NSTI program is to create awareness and interest about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) careers related to transportation.
Two sessions of the NSTI will be offered this year
1. July 10-15, 2016 - A residential one week all girls program called Engineeristas.
2. July 17-29, 2016 - A residential two-week co-ed program called Techsplorers. During the first week, campers learn about different types of STEM careers; and during the second week, NSTI campers focus on hands-on projects related to transportation. (Campers go home for the weekend between the two weeks).
The curriculum will expose students to topics such as: rocketry, road and highway materials, bridge design, non-motorized transportation, traffic management, and investigating wetlands. Our curriculum is designed to include hands-on projects and field trips, including a trip to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
This is a residential program and participants will receive full scholarships provided by the Federal Highway Administration. Participants must be New Hampshire residents. The program runs concurrently with the UNH Engineeristas and Techsplorers programs. Recipients of the NSTI Scholarship for the Techsplorers program must participate in the transportation projects that are part of the NSTI during the second week of the program. This program is being offered in coordination with the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
