Kevin Gardner

My research has focused on the very broad idea of mitigating human impact on the environment, which includes mitigating our impact on ourselves! In recent years much of my work has been in the field of sustainability science and engineering, where I have been fortunate to work with colleagues across a broad disciplinary spectrum to approach wicked social-ecological-technological problems. Over the years I have also worked extensively in remediating sediments contaminated with metals and non polar organic compounds and also on the leaching of metals and elements from industrial byproducts such as coal ash, solid waste incinerator ash, slags, and treated soils.
