Spotlight on Post Doc Deisy Pena Romero
Deisy Pena Romero was born in Caracas (Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela) and completed her undergraduate studies in Chemistry at Central University of Venezuela in 2007. She obtained her PhD in Chemistry from the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) in 2014, under supervision of Dr. Alejandro Arce. In November 2014, Deisy joined Dr. Brandon L. Ashfeld group at University of Notre Dame, where she switched her research field to explore the design and development of new synthetic methods, and their subsequent application in the total synthesis of new materials for carbon capture. Since November 2015, Deisy has been working in Marc Boudreau group at University of New Hampshire, developing the total synthesis of organic compounds for antibacterial applications.
