Manufacturing Systems

Professor Barry Fussell

The goal of this research is to further develop the Design and Manufacturing Laboratory (DML), so that relevant research topics such as the intelligent machining workstation (IMW) can be pursued. Funding for this work has been provided by the National Science Foundation, the State of New Hampshire and local industry.

Spacecraft Dynamics, Modeling and Control

Professor May-Win Thein

The Advanced Control Lab houses research in spacecraft dynamics, modeling and control. Here, both mechanical engineering and electrical engineering students develop methods in general satellite attitude and orbit determination and control, extra-terrestrial surface navigation, hazardous asteroid mitigation, and flexible spacecraft dynamics and modeling. Undergraduate research is also emphasized in the development of experimental test beds for satellite prototypes. This research has been supported by the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, the New Hampshire Space Grant Consortium, and the UNH Hamel Center for Undergraduate Research.
