Chemical Engineering & Bioengineering
The Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering currently offers two undergraduate degrees, B.S in Bioengineering and B.S. in Chemical Engineering. In addition, B. S. in Chemical Engineering is offered with options in Bioengineering, Energy and Environmental Engineering. At the BS level, many of our undergraduates are engaged in research and summer internships. Several ChE faculty have received awards both at the university and at national levels including awards for teaching excellence.
The Bioengineering program (B Sci in Bioengineering) is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Bioengineering and Biomedical and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.

Our graduate program offers the MEng (non-thesis), MS and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering. Starting in Fall 2025, we will also offer MEng (non-thesis), MS and PhD degrees in Bioengineering. For graduate students, we offer research opportunities in biophysics, biomedical engineering, biochemical engineering, catalysis, advanced materials, energy storage, and synthetic biology. Many of our graduate students are fully supported by teaching or research assistantships.
