Welcome To the Department of Chemical Engineering And Bioengineering at the University of New Hampshire
With UNH positioned as one of a select group of Land, Sea and Space Grant Colleges, our students are presented with a wealth of research opportunities at both graduate and undergraduate levels of study. Our science and engineering buildings offer state-of-the-art laboratories, computing facilities, and advanced classroom spaces.
The Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering offers students B.S., M.Eng., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering as well as B.S. degree in Bioengineering. Besides the B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, the department offers three options in the areas of bioengineering, energy, and environmental engineering in Chemical Engineering program. Our award winning faculty has a long standing commitment to teaching excellence. All of our professors are researchers, who balance instruction and research in the classrooms and in the labs.
Undergraduate students in both Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering programs are encouraged to participate in engineering internships. Some students start their career in industry while students choose to go on to graduate school to specialize and obtain advanced degrees in chemical engineering, bioengineering, biochemical engineering, biomedical engineering, materials science or management in patent law.
At the graduate levels, our M.Eng., M.S., and Ph.D. students are offered research opportunities in biomedical engineering, biochemical engineering, electrochemical engineering, separations, advanced materials, reaction engineering and environmental engineering. A five year accelerated master's (M.Eng.) degree program option offers our students an opportunity to earn an advanced degree in a condensed timeframe.
The Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of New Hampshire was established in 1950 and changed its name to Department of Chemical Engineering & Bioengineering in 2023. The department has 10 faculty members, approximately 150 undergraduate students, and 20 graduate students.
The Bioengineering program (B Sci in Bioengineering) is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Bioengineering and Biomedical and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
The Chemical Engineering program (B Sci in Chemical Engineering) is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Chemical, Biochemical, Biomolecular and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
