About Jonathan
Jonathan completed his Bachelors and Masters in Mathematics at the University of Vermont in 2013, focusing on Algebraic Combinatorics. He is a part time PhD student in the Mathematics program. Jonathan’s research is in Operator Algebra and Quantum Information Theory. In his spare time he is a software engineer at Google. He and his wife Wenjing (also an Operator Algebraist at UNH) live in Cambridge, MA.

About Sukitha
Sukitha entered the department in the fall of 2018. He is a PhD student in the Mathematics program. He is interested in a variety of areas, including topology, functional analysis, financial mathematics, computational mathematics, optimization or numerical analysis. Before his time at UNH, he was an Instructor in Engineering Mathematics at the Open University of Sri Lanka. Sukitha holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Peradeniya.

Sophie earned a BS degree in Mathematics from UNH. Here, she grew to appreciate math even more and the teaching of it. Wanting to pursue her love for math education, she decided to stay and join the PhD program in Mathematics Education.

Bitna earned a BS in Mathematics from Chung-Ang University in South Korea. After graduating, she wanted to study education further, so she completed a master's degree in Mathematics Education at Korea University. She earned a second master's degree in Mathematics from Lakehead University in Canada. Bitna joined the department in the fall of 2020 in the PhD program in Mathematics Education.

About Lisha
Lisha graduated from Keene State College with a BA in Mathematics/Secondary Education and an MEd in Education, and is interested in exploring connections between K-12 math experiences and math anxiety, especially in pre-service elementary educators. She works full-time at Keene State as an academic advisor and as an adjunct math faculty, teaching Math Education courses.

About Amanda
Amanda entered the department in the fall of 2015. In that time she has worked on earning a post-bachelor’s certificate in Industrial Statistics and is now working to finish her Masters of Science in Statistics. Amanda is a member of UNH’s co-ed professional chemistry fraternity Alpha Chi Sigma and was initiated into the fraternity in 2014. Amanda earned a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from Plymouth State University in 2013. She is interested in data analysis and design of experiments with a focus and interest in biostatistics.

The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences offers an Integrated Applied Mathematics (IAM) PhD Program. This interdisciplinary applied mathematics program gives students the opportunity to explore the frontier where the sciences meet cutting-edge mathematical analysis and high performance computing.
