Mathematics Education (Minor)

Mathematics Education (Minor)
students in a mathematics class

A minor in mathematics education at UNH provides students with the skills to teach math effectively in K-12 settings, while enhancing their understanding of mathematical concepts. This program prepares you for a rewarding career in education, blending theory with hands-on experience. You'll engage with expert faculty, explore innovative teaching methods, and gain practical classroom experience. Whether you're aiming to become a math teacher or strengthen your math knowledge, this minor sets you up for success in education.

Students pursuing a minor in Mathematics Education will be required to take courses that introduce them to teaching, mathematics education topics, and mathematical content to solidify their understanding of secondary mathematics. In addition to the required courses, students will choose electives of interest from options in Education and Mathematics, in consultation with the minor advisor.

Completion of this minor does not lead to teaching certification. Students should meet with the minor advisor to discuss potential pathways and to determine what additional courses are needed.
