Building Community Outside the Classroom
In addition to our dynamic day programs, Tech Camp also offers an option for students to live on campus in a dorm while their program is in session. Surrounded by fellow campers and staff members, the residential option integrates learning and social development, helping to build both personal identity and a strong Tech Camp community. Many students say the best part about Tech Camp is making new STEM-focused friends outside the classroom and experiencing life on a vibrant college campus.
Culture of Safety
Residential campers are monitored by a well-trained staff to ensure their safety and wellbeing at all times. The camp employs an experienced UNH Residence Hall Director who is trained in both running a dorm and first aid. Our counselor-to-student ratio is typically 1:8. A buddy system is also employed so that students are never left alone. On-site health services and security are available in case of an emergency.
All UNH residence halls are secured 24/7 and can only be accessed using a keycard. Access to the Tech Camp residence hall is limited to current program participants and authorized staff. Electronic keycards are issued to staff only. After lights-out each evening, staff conduct nightly rounds to ensure all campers are safely in their rooms. Visitors, including family members and friends, are not permitted in the residence halls.
Residence Hall and Roommates
Campers stay in a clean, updated residence hall on the UNH campus. Each floor is supervised by trained counselors who live in the residence hall for the duration of the program. All counselors are carefully vetted, and many have prior experience as Resident Assistants. They play a central role in the residential experience by serving as mentors, helping campers get oriented to campus, leading activities, and sharing insights into college life. The UNH Residence Hall Director oversees the counseling staff, coordinates residential programming, and is on call overnight to provide additional support as needed.
The summer 2026 residence hall will be Fairchild Hall, located near Holloway Commons where students will enjoy their meals.

Roommates: Campers are assigned two to a room with another camper close in age. Families may request a roommate during enrollment, and we’re happy to accommodate mutual requests whenever possible. To guarantee placement together, both campers must request each other.
UNH Tech Camp is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and comfortable residential experience for all students. As part of this commitment, we offer gender-inclusive housing options. Unless otherwise requested, campers are placed with a same-sex roommate.
Gender-Inclusive Housing: Gender-inclusive housing is available upon request for trans or gender-nonconforming students who feel this option best supports their comfort and well-being. Campers in gender-inclusive housing may room with another camper of any gender identity or gender expression. This option includes double rooms and access to a designated gender-inclusive bathroom with showers. Roommate pairings within gender-inclusive housing are based on a shared preference for this option and must be requested by both camper families. To request gender-inclusive housing, a parent or guardian should please email the Assistant Director.
Dining on Campus
Students will enjoy all their meals at UNH’s main dining hall, Holloway Commons, where there’s always something for everyone. With a wide variety of cuisines and menus featuring healthy, locally sourced ingredients, it’s not unusual to choose between dumplings, create-your-own stir-fry, pizza, a pasta bar, or the deli station at any given meal. Not to mention the dessert bar and soft-serve frozen yogurt! Three meals per day are included for residential students. Holloway Commons is well equipped to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and other special diets, as well as food allergies. For more detailed information, please visit the UNH nutrition page.
Evening Activities and Special Programming
After the camp day concludes at 4pm, there will be plenty of activities to keep campers engaged outside of the classroom. Each night, counselors and the Hall Director will run a series of social activities in the residence hall and around campus. Students are encouraged to join in, relax, and have fun with new friends!
