Is Tech Camp intended primarily for students who already have a strong background in STEM subjects?
Tech Camp is for everyone! We welcome students of all skill levels and backgrounds — an inquisitive mind and sense of adventure are all that are required to enroll! Tech Camp can be the first place that a student learns about an array of STEM subject areas and how they might pursue them in college or as a career. Tech Camp opens doors that students didn't even know existed!
Why have your prices changed?
Last year, we learned that a long-standing federal grant that supported our programs would not be renewed. As a result, Tech Camp now relies entirely on program tuition, along with generous private support from individuals and industry partners. This shift prompted a thoughtful, long-term planning process focused on sustainability, while keeping accessibility and program quality at the forefront of every decision. These shifts have led to adjustments in program pricing—some costs have increased, others have decreased, and some will remain free—reflecting the true cost of delivering high-quality, hands-on learning experiences for our students. Read more about these changes here.
Is financial support available?
Our goal is to make Tech Camp accessible to all who are interested. Need-based financial aid is available on a limited basis. Scholarships, if awarded, cover 50% of the cost of attending a program and funds can be applied to any program, including residential programs. The application for financial aid will open on February 1st and will close on March 15th. For more information, please refer to the enrollment section of the website.
In the past, I needed to fill out an application before enrolling in a Tech Camp program. Do I still need to do that?
For 2026, an application will not be required before enrolling in most Tech Camp programs. There are two exceptions to this: students wishing to join the Dinah Whipple STEAM Academy and students seeking financial aid to attend a Tech Camp program must submit an application and should wait until a decision has been communicated to them before enrolling in a program.
What is the difference between a TechVenturers program and a TechLeaders: Bridge to College program?
TechLeaders: Bridge to College is intended for students who want to pursue higher education and are interested in building familiarity with the college landscape. In addition to their core project work, students will take part in leadership development and college readiness activities that introduce them to college-level expectations, learning environments and pathways in STEM. Examples of these activities may include:
- Q & A with UNH undergrads
- Meet and greet with UNH faculty
- Tours of specialized UNH facilities that align with program content (examples: wind tunnel, astronomy tower, University Instrumentation Center, Hubbard Genomics Center, Inter-Operability Lab, Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center)
- Campus tour and info. session with UNH admissions
- Info. session focused on various UNH scholarship programs
- Info. session focused on UNH’s Early College Online program
- Workshops on college essay writing, resume writing, the college application process, financial aid, picking a major and more
- If staying on campus: Excursions to downtown Durham and exposure to more of the UNH campus
By contrast, TechVenturers programs are designed for students with a strong interest in a particular topic who want to collaborate with like-minded peers in a supportive environment. These programs are ideal for students who enjoy hands-on learning and exploring subjects in depth, even if they are still unsure about pursuing STEM in higher education.
Are campers required to live on campus?
We understand that living on campus in a dorm is not for everyone, so we offer both day and residential options for students entering grades 8 and above. For younger students, day programs are offered.
Does my child need to be a NH resident to attend?
No. In years past, participants have come from all over New England, the wider U.S., and even from overseas. All are welcome!
Who are the instructors at Tech Camp?
Our programs are led by UNH faculty members, trained STEM graduate and undergraduate students, industry professionals, and veteran STEM teachers. All bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to the classroom and a love for STEM education at all levels.
What is project-based learning?
Project-based learning is a student-centered approach to teaching that involves a dynamic classroom environment in which students engage in hands-on activities and experiments to explore subject matter and address real-world challenges and problems. In a project-based classroom, students learn by doing and benefit from expert mentors who guide them along the way.
Can I get high school credit for attending Tech Camp?
Yes! UNH has partnered with the Virtual Learning Academy Charter School (VLACS) to provide high school students with an opportunity to earn credit in conjunction with their participation in Tech Camp. Learn more about high school credit.
